Diaby Full Of Confidence For New Season

Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby says that he is full of confidence ahead of the new Premier League season which should see him return to playing regular football after a long time. Since the 2009-10 season, Diaby has constantly been on the sidelines. He has not made more than 21 appearances in the last three seasons. He was widely expected to return from the constant injury problems last season, but just one appearance throughout last season certainly did not inspire a lot of confidence. The midfielder has admitted that he has considered retirement.
Even though he has not played much football in recent times, Diaby can still become a key player in the Arsenal team. He is just 28 years old. Diaby admitted that the injury problems may have forced him to consider retirement at this early age, but he is confident that this season will prove to be a breakthrough. The midfielder’s future at Arsenal has also been much speculated with the Gunners reportedly running out of patience. The presence of Diaby takes up one more player in the Premier league squad list, which would have been given to another player. He is also one of the higher learning players in the squad with salary of around £ 50,000 per week.
“Yeah. Sometimes it crossed my mind, but my love of football is so big that I just couldn’t quit. I am still young and now that I have an opportunity to play again I want to take it. I try to be positive all the time and that has helped me to come back. It’s great to be playing again. Now I just hope I can keep like this and continue. My knee is feeling good, I have been working hard on my fitness and strength,” said Diaby about the upcoming season.
